Some simple recipes easy wine
If you're into wine house, you know the importance of obtaining good wine recipes home. Just take a little fruit juice and fermentation agent in a jar and let sit for a while you get nothing but nasty fruit juice. Of course you can try your own mixtures if you are adventurous, and of course doing so is part of the fun of making your own wine, but especially if you're a beginner, you'll want follow the easy wine recipes at the start. Once you're a little more experienced, you can start experimenting with different mixtures of fruit and sugar and who knows – you may even come with some of your own homemade wine recipes over time! But first, here are some basic recipes, you can try.
Hot wines are a great alternative to hot cocoa, cider and other drinks. They are very easy to do, and once you get the hang of it, you can bring your own wine recipes hot. Usually you just take a regular bottle of any red wine and put it in a large pot. Add quarter cup of brandy, about 10 cloves, 2 / 3 cup of sugar, some whole cinnamon sticks, and about a teaspoon of ginger or allspice. Simmer over very low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved. You can experiment with this type of easy wine recipe by adding favorite mashed fruit or juice, or using honey instead of sugar as a sweetener. By using different types of wines red, you'll also be able to get either stronger or mellower flavors.
Apple wine is also a favorite for house wines, and while these recipes easy wine a little longer, they give a very good product. Your wine mix is merely 2 containers of frozen apple juice (thawed) and 4 cups sugar, more or less to taste, with about 2-1/2 gallons of water. As with most easy wine recipes, you boil the sugar in a liter of water until it is dissolved, and add the apple juice. Add about 6 teaspoons of acid mixture, a tablet Campden, a quarter teaspoon of grape tannin, a spoon half of pectic enzymes, and a packet of wine yeast. You can then prepare as you would any other wine. As this is one of the most basic recipes homemade wine there, you can experiment with it by mixing apple juice with other fruit juices. Half apple juice and half grape juice is good, cherry juice or BlackBerry works well too.
You can also adjust this homemade wine recipe by eliminating the apple and quite using half grape juice and half the juice grapefruit.
The important thing to remember when you mix the fruit you use in your homemade wine recipes is that you do not want to use all fruit pie or any fruit sugar. A good way to remember it is to think of the color of the fruit, and use two different colors. For example, grape and apple, banana, cherry, etc.. These types of mixtures usually make the best wine-friendly recipes for house wines.

Rats I have known and loved
RATS I have known and loved
The thing to understand about people is that once Rat you said that you know what they do, they shaping very well. . . or they walk right in your life forever. Half measures are not their fate.
It's weird. But according to many Chinese, the most endearing quality of Rat people is honesty. I prefer to interpret this variable Oriental ¬ ty of honesty as something closer to fair play, or simply a great respect for justice. Rats are not as witness to events in which excessive par ¬ dentiality is exposed unless, of course, "said the rat is the promulgator of iniquity.
The nature of the Rat person has two sides. Outwardly, he is generous and joyful, he seems calm and balanced. Inside rats harbor excessive interest in the form of greed and acquisitiveness. What differentiates individuals from your Computers Rat ¬ nary miser is their deep respect for the equitable sharing of benefits starting with those they consider worthy of it.
Rat standards are high. They are not easily seduced by the rhetoric of small and gossip. If a person chooses to Rat-you, it will not hide his feelings. Once he decided to make friends with someone, both hospitality and kindness spread across borders once impassable.
Given this set of strict rules that generally creates the Rat
for himself, if one of its "Chosen few" ultimately betrayed, or in any way trying to trick him, he is capable of both revenge and unreason ¬ reasonable requests for revenge. The rats never accept being petted or taken lightly. In business as in love partnerships, they are less cross ¬ Ruth.
Here is a tale told Rat. At the corner of my house in Paris, he spent two American expatriates, side by side in a pair of wooden houses. These houses were built shelters gardening. Long ago, in the forties after the war (before the French building codes as strict they became are today), we could still find jewels in the city limits and with a minimum investment, turning them into livable homes. Times have changed. Or so I learned from my lady neighbors Rat Bor ¬ Auguste Claire (b. 1948).
Claire came to inform me that her husband Nick wanted to convert a third hut tool in their small garden in a guest house. She quickly said: "While we were in Majorca this summer, the organization is met to discuss the construction of zoning. Our request for a building permit con ¬ was denied. I am so angry I could spit! " Claire sighed and continued controlled rage. "From what I have in ¬ se, our next door neighbor Paul Kradlow at this meeting. He is president of the condominium [In France, all buildings are Condomina ¬ Sees. Each has his own apartment.] Ordinarily what Paul says goes. I do not understand. We left everything in the hands of Kradlow. Paul insists that it is not his fault. He says he made a very convincing speech in our defense. This small guest house not to disturb anyone. Except for Paul, no one can even see the cabin. The decision is unjust, but we are legally unable to appeal. "Her eyes filled with mist home ¬ owner frustration.
Two weeks after hearing Claire diatribe against unreason ¬ able to vote, I came across Paul Kradlow in Montparnasse artists' haunt. Paul is a painter. Although he never been my favorite person, we have been neighbors for so long that we always smile and nod to each other in public places. That day, Paul called me to his unusual table. "Sit down a minute, do you? he said. I was sitting.
"Well," said Paul. "I suppose you've heard of their plan wild
transform their club house guests? "I nodded. He blathered on: "Of course, as president of the condo, I have certain responsibilities to construction. During the summer we had a meeting. The Emperors were absent, so I had to call a vote by default. Fortunately, most their supporters have been out of town at the time. The vote came out negative. "Sigh followed by Paul was not sufficiently serious enough.
"How did you vote for, Paul?" He blanched, took a glass of his white Bordeaux, and a wink he said, "negative." Then he smiled and winked the eye again.
I pulled my arm away from him. "Nice friend you are!" I rail anger. "If I were Claire, I-"
"She did," he murmured sadly.
"She did what?" I asked.
"She found from one of the people at that meeting that I had spoken against his license application. "His eyes began to look for mine some small outbreaks of indulgence neighborhood. Instead, I stared back. He continued, "In the middle of last night, Claire has done a terrible thing for me. "Paul seemed perfectly healthy. No scratches, cuts, bruises or. He had no family to threaten it, so I can not imagine what could Claire chose to revenge for his crime against his confidence. Paul pulled out a felt marker and began to write on the paper tablecloth. "This is what she has done, "Paul said. "She painted these words on the side of his own hangar. In huge white letters on dark green wood." I looked the message he had pulled on the fabric. He said, Do not bear false witness against your neighbor! I burst out laughing uncontrollably. Single a rat could imagine such a thing. See Paul-kitchen sink was soiled for life with a permanent reminder of the break command.
Assuming pose of the aggrieved artist, Paul said humbly: "I can not even paint it. This hut is located on his property. You do not think it Ratty something to do with an old friend? "
Rising to leave the table, I smiled broadly and agreed. "Gotta pay attention to Rats, Paul. They are all around us. "
Rat people are charming. Even worse, they manage to evoke a warm "Hi" or "How are you?" a visitor
or an acquaintance passes. social gatherings are the lifeblood of their lives. Cloister someone away pet friendly Rat and wither and die of loneliness. As this subject has an engaging personality and the way to win, he loves to entertain, parties, cooking exotic dishes benefit of his guests, and, in general, lay down on the festivities and celebrations. If you ever invited to a coup Rat, accept with pleasure. You will not be disappointed. In addition, unusual surprises may be in store for those born under the sign of the rat are very proud to find new diversions ¬ for themselves and for their comrades.
A boy is amazing, it's like my dearest friend of all male rats, Richard Reventlow. When Richard gives a festive party or even the most minor of dates of birth of the family, my curiosity barometer is rising sharply.
Following part of his wife Sheila most recent birthday, she asked, "What did he think of next? Sometimes I think Richard has really done the around the corner. "Sheila was stumbling around her the disaster area of a living room, straightening tables and chairs, pick up grains Fetti ¬ tion, and wiping the ice cream spilled on the carpet.
"You know, I really did not like the first Lot of monkeys. Brunettes were rather cute how they circled tricycles and tips made Trainer. My stepmother looked a bit scared when that rhesus Black jumped into his cup of coffee, but it must be used for Richard now. I suspect it will survive. "
From the kitchen, Sheila had to raise his voice to a scream: "But the chimps! Have you seen how they were dirty? Richard Why not look at them before he hired them, I'll never know. I mean, really, Susan, who has never heard of lease of six wild animals to get into a room Living on Fifth Avenue mini-bikes? Nothing but the sound was terrible. "
Sheila sign me in his room. "Let's go in my room and relax with a drink. You can watch a silent movie on television. Anything is better than watching this mess. "
When we installed in our respective places in front of the television, Sheila on the bed and myself in a lounge chair, I thought to ask what Richard had given as a birthday present.
"I do not know yet. He says it'll be a surprise. Maybe he will bring something the house tonight. As far as I know, there could be a pet baboon. "Sheila laughed tender.
Turn on the TV with the remote, Sheila suddenly began to tremble. At first I could not help laughing. She looked so stupid, just sitting there shaking like that. I was overwhelmed with joy. All I heard her cry was vibrato: "The damned Richard!" She shuddered aloud. "It is so crazy. Do you know what he's gone and done?
Alarming that his appearance was strange, I could not stop Bub ¬ bling laugh every time I tried to answer him. "What is it? Are you okay?" I able to breathe between laughs.
Just as suddenly, as the tremors began, they stopped. The TV is gone. Sheila, in a fit of laughs, read aloud a note she had found stuck to the pillow. "My darling wife," she read. "I hope you enjoy this little present. It is called Magic Fingers. Remember how you loved when we went to this motel funny Ohio? The medium is the massage! Love You Forever. Richie.
I can assure you that Richard Reventlow is not a fool. He acts like one. Year last the occasion of their tenth wedding anniversary, he gave his wife a firework. The previous year, he gave a birthday skating. He hired a rink for the evening, invited friends and fifty, and monitoring of the line in a hay ride to through Central Park.
Rat people have a preference for the indisputable victory of luxury in the simple life. Whenever I meet a new Rat, the first thing I notice is her clothes, jewelry, and elegant manners. Small question the state of his bank account, background or social position. Rats like to look their best. They surround themselves with beautiful objects of quality. Women of this sign have an exquisite taste in both wardrobe and decorative accoutrements. Their homes are often difficult showpieces for antiques or an array of jungle plants that no one ever seems to grow.
This love of the good life notwithstanding, people are con ¬ Rat scientious parents. Each step in the development of a child
captures the interest of a Rat mother or father. Be it physical or moral, if one of their own pack is injured or feeling depressed, Rat will be very difficult to see that the damage is repaired. Thus, people can become Rat that some of us describe as "benefactors". They are not to be named president of "The Committee of the annihilation of mental health, or serving on the Board of Directors a charity or another.
You will recall that one of our very own rat most famous Marlon Brando (b. 1924), has taken the cause of American Indians in the refusal of an Academy Awards on television to inform the public that can its serious intention to help.
Brando was a very good case in point Rat. He has always put its charms Rat excellent use. Variety roles he played in his life, each with equal ease and skill, his fans lots of joy and sorrow vicariously. Yet like all rats, Brando has not been noted for its ability to compromise when it comes to directors or other actors and actresses. His reputation on the set-was never very complimentary. Rats referral and many are often dissatisfied with the efforts of others. It is difficult for them to tolerate the fact that nobody even looks great. This feeling of dissatisfaction results ¬ time in grumbling and complaints. Rats can make life very diffi ¬ cult to co-workers.
My mother talk about my uncle Rat this way: "Ed is an angel in the crowd. But it is a devil at home. "It is true. My Uncle Ed was a misery to live with. He never came home in time for dinner. He worked long hours in his office, hoping to kill that big in real estate (which ultimately did). He smacked his children more often than it should. And according to my dear mother, "Ed ran around with women."
In part, my mother's old way of describing Uncle Ed says a lot about the character of the rat. But those who knew Ed was sub ¬ implicitly its donation to participate in additional tasks that households and charitable acts of favoritism. The fact is, Ed never "ran with women" in the way we usually think of as a hobby. But he did hold fundraisers the ladies auxiliary to his church.
And he has led a lot of chatter back and forth to religious retreats countries and served on committees all his life to improving the con ¬ tions in the complex for the elderly for women only. Then the rats, it has been "running" with women, but not in the traditional sense.
Rats make a science of art of impressive people. Nobody gets away with mixed feelings on a rat. Half the time, he is hated (even fear), and the other half is blind adored by those who know him. Yet, regardless is the atmosphere around him, the rat is graceful.
Rats often deport themselves in a rather controversial. They are at home discuss politics with the visiting Minister British Prime Minister, drink at home with the boys at the local bar, and able to convince the garage to 20 percent of their repair bills. It is not fair to say that rats are crooks. But they are very convincing and almost stops nothing to get their way. Whether engaged in business negotiations or emotional ¬ tions, people are never entirely free of Rat mental arithmetic. Their deepest feelings and gestures of generosity are tinged with accents of interest. Rarely, if ever, give a love rat person or even friendship unless he feels it will ultimately be useful to him. Their motto: "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours "Is valid. It is common knowledge among older adults that nothing is for nothing. What is different about the Rat is its inability to deviate from that pat ¬ terns except for the good old days because he wants to conduct a former lover. Sentimentality of sticky, sweet, sappy much variety is out of line of rats, but it is a breeze for the memories and tradition.
To win the affection or is in the capital, the rats bow on the back ¬ Ward. Rat A person dedicated to a novel or making a gain from a business enterprise, will be ignored all emotional limits until he reaches his goal. For this reason, the rats are profiteers superlative. Sometimes it seems that all they touch turns to gold. Rats are convenience stores in the world. They can walk into a bank ¬ risk Rupt it back there, and the weeks are all in perfect state again. They see the gaps, snags find and discover shady deals with grace and ease.
This ability to see through walls and know exactly where
to find the weak link, if used wisely, will make the successful Rat to almost any business. However, if a person chooses to abuse the Rat talent, he is capable of the lowest prevalence of type Indo ¬. If life is too easy, the rat can become lazy.
The rats should be loved. This is not because they take these huge ¬ sure means of social situations and are generally good at gab, does not mean that society demands of pedestrians on their talents are not to tax mind. The soul is always eager Rat closer contact, more intimacy, sharing of thoughts and desires. At home, he needs to talk things through. It is almost unreal, rats, how to think on their feet or calculate the shots while talking. Deep philosophical meditation ¬ tion almost never any net profit. Although they spend much of their time reading or leaning on the documents, immediately abandoned their books, they will need to discuss what they read. If your romantic partner was born under the sign of the Rat, pre ¬ be prepared to stay several nights rapping about different possible strategies, deals, friendships, etc., who feels the rat must be traversed before sleeping.
Rat people are in love of good food. They almost always included among those who know the wines and gastronomy. They know how to set up beautifully appetizing spreads and they are reluctant not when faced with the same consumption. Most rats that I know have a weight problem. They simply can not say "no" to themselves when it is the ingestion of tasty treats. Rats are nibbling, noshers and Snackers.
Bargains and cut-rate bond sales to individuals from countries Shop Rat ¬ tres, newspaper advertisements and catalogs. If the A & P offered twenty jars of peanut butter for the price of ten, and you took a survey Quick ladies who swarm in first thing in the morning, I would bet that at least half of these go-irons "are born in one year Rat. Popular belief has it that rats treasure of small pieces of this and that to be sure of something to eat when times are lean. Remember, people are not greedy Rat on sharing their booty. They just like to be armed for the bad times. They are savers, insurance buyers, and planners for the future. And if by chance they have not thought about that
will pay the pension when they get to be old and gray, rats do not spend small amount of their time worrying about themselves.
A friend my rat is so concerned about the safety and obtain ¬ tion in its stores for the duration, I often accuse him of never having had an experience Buying single spontaneous. If it does not start collect ¬ ing Christmas presents next year in January, she fears she may money left for the holiday looming on the horizon. Jayne buys French wine, German beer, pate de foie gras and other nonperishable food by the case or barrel. It has an oil reserve tank next to his house where the energy crisis takes a turn for the worse. Nobody is happy with the idea of missing bases, but my friend Rat Jayne is still uncomfortable about the possibility of running out of luxury. His house is a real air raid shelter provisions gourmet.
Many reprimanded and attacked not have the same priorities as other rats a bad way to defend themselves. When cornered, they become more aggressive. In the midst of a minor debate about what should be done about a victory snatched ¬ shadow Dow, people are capable of turning on their Rat public as the most offensive. Rat people think that there is no defense like a good offense. Thus, in case of threat (even in a small way), they strike. Sometimes they take a high tone and authority of nowhere and start smacking the platitudes of "I'm the boss around here! "Variety.
Because everyone is becoming more involved in the Rat malaria is aware of its mercurial, those who know him well often avoid trouble bypassing the review of certain issues. Since sensitive issues can trigger the Rat to take umbrage or one of his fits of anger, a friend Smart will be reluctant to jump in feet first and talk about this more. If the rat realized how much he is irritable, he would probably be saddened ¬ bly by this knowledge. Rat people do enjoy debates and sessions of rap, but as they are not always willing to admit their own mistakes or errors calculation, many people prefer not to discuss with them.
Last year, I worked for a man who sold French Rat fireworks, not just caps and detonators, but displays, up-in-the-air showers High Sky-in-the-¬ vibrant colors. As decided to take
American fireworks industry by storm, and did not speak a word of English, Mr. Lupin hired me as interpreter. Together, we flew to conquer the United States, but Lupin could not speak a word of English and not a firework American prospective client could utter a word of French. I do not know what I was for, but who could refuse a job where the presentation Product at a business meeting as taking place in an open field by night under a blanket of shooting stars and Roman candles?
In retrospect, the translation of Lupin was a breeze if it had not been his inability to work alone singular. As I said, rats are communicators. They speak in order to believe they are alive and thinking. Can you imagine having spent three full weeks (including weekends) as the indicator of the ear of a dog suddenly talkative Rat deaf and mute by confinement in a country where you are his only means of contact with humanity? Moreover, psy ¬ chology Rats comprises part of heavy suspicion, and this is particularly felt Rat LAR ¬ very left every time I said "Good Morning, Mr. Jones" in English. When he left this side of the ocean, Mr. Lupin had a spectacular case of paranoid anti-Americanism.
Whenever the English words escaped my lips, Lupin was sure I'm trying to trick him or taking on a black background in the world of sin ¬ gle supply of powder to it. He thought a moment that I in cahoots with his great competition in this country. However, he paid me. He hired me in France. I had never even seen a firework almost before the meeting. My job, when it consisted only other ¬ tation that Mr. Lupin wanted to send a client or a manufacturer ¬ Manu was most enjoyable. But those long-night talk-ins on the whiskey after whiskey in all hotel bars dark across America. . . . After one week, I honestly thought I would die of overspeak.
The lives of most of the rats is actually a little over an expanded set failures. Much of their time is spent maneuvering in the offensive. The rest of life is engulfed by Rat concern ¬ ing with the forecast methods aggressively out of the countless ¬ able cul-de-sac that wait beyond the next step.
Basically, the rat is a good soul. Although concern about his
self-image can lead to a buffet or jostle fears he will get the better of him, shoving these do are just jabs elbow in the ribs soft opponents. Rats are not the kind of barbaric tyranny that works even on their best friends to succeed. If they are a bit promiscuity, their escapades extra are only the result of self-doubt or anxiety to be attractive. When rats are, they sincerely believe their lies are measures of self-defense. The white lie, the more comfortable of the rat.
Rats, no matter how the scope their success or importance ¬ importance, are capable of extraordinary humility. No job is ever too menial for a rat, no racing too insignificant to be executed for a friend.
A few years back, when some of my friends introduced me to Rat movie star Keir Dullea (Born 1936), I learned some facts about how lov ¬ able Rats can be really. Keir Dullea has the cosmic blue eyes of the color changes with her mood Delft Wedgwood. It is beautiful, famous and talented, and always has "Lost Boy" look he wore in the movie David and Lisa. As all rats, He is outgoing, fun and energetic.
Keir, too, is a devoted friend. It is one of those whom we say: "It will give you the shirt on his back." He is generous and joyful, to boot.
The day I found a small studio in which ply my trade as a writer was a victory for me. The room was small and dark, damp, poorly decorated Parisian. But it was mine. Keir was visiting in Paris the time and offered to help rehabilitate the site. Aware of my lack of talent for manual labor, I was delighted by his will book a nail and paint a wall.
Knowing that the ability to organize the Rat will always SUPE efore ¬ mine, I suggested that the plan of attack on my Keir den brazenness of its own. I agree to the height with the chore, but admitted that I had not really a clue where to start.
First things first. Keir we rolled on the carpet of local Parisian store where we bought enough of the indoor / outdoor carpeting to cover the linoleum floor of junk. I asked to have made carpets, but Keir said: "They will never arrive on time. I'll just see you. "And with that, he pushed the giant roll of red carpet on her
the shoulder and crashed into the ceiling, breaking it into pieces.
After we had laughed and paid the dealer Nice for his lamp, Keir walked the streets of Paris for about one kilometer, whistling as if it was one of the seven dwarfs. Parisians, accustomed ¬ UNAC to do-it-yourself, laughed, and he stopped in his heavy burden. Needless to say, the ridiculous French went Unno ¬ practiced by our hero in Rat. Keir has bagged a carpet and that was reason enough to drag himself to his destination. In addition, rats like the show, especially when they create it.
In short, I am now the only American writer living in Paris who works in a studio decorated by hand a movie star. Keir spent three days fixing, painting, collage contact paper on shelves, and mounting his carpet in the corners with a bread knife. All existence ¬ the Rat's persistence and attention to detail went into his business and the end result is both pleasant and convenient.
Richard Nixon (1912-1913 b) was rat. Until he began to confuse him with his own brand of political tide, Dick Nixon was seen by many Americans to be a kind of person whose smile bigwigs felt they could push and mold into their own idea of a presidential candidate. But I do not think the world was ready to Brother Rat tend to want all the power for himself. If they had read this book, Nixon cronies could guess advance that when a rat feels trapped or frustrated by his peers, he takes one of two escape routes. Either he slinks away to become a hermit, or it becomes a tyrant terribly rude. In the case of Richard Nixon, both avenues were used. When aggression did not disappear he ¬ appeared in the woodwork.
In addition to Marion Brando (b. 1924), we talked about before as a rat prices, our time has been honored by Many famous personalities Rat. Adlai Stevenson, Sr. was born in 1900. The year 1912 brought us playwright Eugene Ionesco. In 1924, we recorded a quartet of famous persons Rat: actress Lauren Bacall, novelists James Baldwin and Truman Capote and Brando himself. A bumper harvest has come in 1936, among them Richard Bach fame Seagull, Dick Cavett, actors Keir Dullea
and Dennis Hopper and the French couturier Yves Saint Laurent. Singer-songwriter James Taylor was born in 1948, and so was Peggy Fleming, figure skating champion.
Rats have a great ability to aggressively falling on task. They attack the fun, make money, and love with equal verve. If you're lucky enough to witness the continuation of the charming Rat rewards of life, you are always assured of a great performance at a very low price. The Devil Wears Prada: The effect of privatization on organizational behavior in Egypt – The case of the Al-Ahram Beverages Company (Abc)
INTRODUCTON
No company today is in a special environment stable. Even traditionally stable industries have witnessed and continue to undergo tumultuous changes. Thus, the evolution of dynamic environments that organizations face need to be adapted, sometimes using quick answers and deep, "Change or die!" is the rallying cry among managers from around the world today. Forces such as the nature of the labor force, technology economic shocks, competition, social trends and the political act as stimulants change.
The theory of privatization and competition and the academic literature on privatization suggests that the major product organizational changes and that these changes, in conjunction with market forces and appropriate government policies, will produce positive results in terms of profitability, effectiveness, etc. Many changes in organizations coincidence. Some organizations treat all change as accidental, but we have here planned change that took place during the privatization process in Al-Ahram Beverages Company (ABC) that are supposed to seek to improve the company's ability to adapt to change, and change employee behavior.
THE OBJECTIVES OF REPORT
This report examines the relationship between the privatization of public enterprises (PE), organization change the behavior and performance – the case of Al-Ahram Beverages (ABC). It explores the processes of privatization which affects performance businesses through internal changes in the organization. The analysis shows significant differences between types of property related to organizational elements that were to change. The evidence suggested that the privatization process has changed the behavior, incentives and the performance of former state enterprises in the State (public companies).
It also analyzes, at micro-institutional, organizational change and transformation of Egyptian public enterprises in the case of ABC. Such an analysis of a success story on the impact of privatization on organizational change and performance would help managers understand the nature of the transformation process, taking place during the change of ownership. An important byproduct of the privatization and restructuring of public enterprises program in Egypt is growing demand for effective managers in both SOEs and privatized enterprises.
Most studies of corporate performance post-privatization focused on the bottom line, that is, they examined the financial measures to monitor quantifiable indicators of change. But few studies took a look at the way cultures post-privatization of the organization in business change organizational behavior.
Researchers, management experts generally characterize major differences between the public and private sector management and bureaucratic practices. And organizational development literature highlights the immense challenges to changing organizational cultures and behaviors. This we leads to the first issue of this report: What is the effect of privatization on organizational behavior in Egypt? The case of Al-Ahram Beverages Company (ABC).
By discovering the absence of empirical data on behavior changes in business post-privatization We have addressed this problem and discussed changes in organizational culture and behavior that identifies the variety of results that the theory suggests are associated with privatization. Then, we tried to implement the results on Al-Ahram Beverages case.
Why Al-Ahram DRINKS?
Al-Ahram Beverages firm was established over 110 years. The story began in 1897 when the Crown Cabinet Brewery (the oldest ancestor CBA) registered in the kingdom of Belgium (home of the famous Stella Artois and beer) to begin operation in Alexandria.
Later in 1946, the company concluded a technical assistance agreement with the brewer Dutch Heineken. However, in 1963, the company was nationalized and was executed by the government for the last 50 years. After over 22 years, the firm has finally changed its name to Al Ahram Beverages Company (ABC).
Al Ahram Beverages Company (ABC) evolved from a brewery outdated Egyptian public sector world-class dynamic drinks. In 1997 an Egyptian entrepreneur bought at the time of privatization. On the way ABC has been hailed "the model of privatization.
Finally in 2002, the firm commitment to development has led to the acquisition of ABC by the Heineken group, but he stayed for three years under the the former owner.
In January 2006, the company has experienced a complete change in all areas and activities. Today ABC has a portfolio of large-scale beverages, including beer, wine, spirits and his pioneering non-alcoholic malt beverage, Fayrouz, Birel And Amstel zero. The company is now led by a team of national and multinational.
Egypt is now among the 20 biggest markets, Heineken, and the Dutch company has put the wine to the tip of its marketing push later. Egypt's history as a nation Wine is well documented; Pharaonic vineyards were among the first on record of man. But domestic consumption is still high stimulating task for the beverage company. The supply and demand in modern industry depends largely on foreigners – CEO of Al-Ahram Belgian and is over 80 percent of wine sales come from tourists.
CBA has been ranked by Forbes Global Magazine as a top 200 small businesses run in 2001, one of the top 20 in 2000. The shares of the Company have been listed on the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange (CASE), and has been honored with MEED Business-to-price consumer products maker 2002 for business excellence. Experts in business world applauded ABC for being the best success story of privatization around the world.
REVIEW LITERATURE
The sale of enterprises (SOEs) to private investors and the competitive provision of market of goods and government services is a quintessence of the "global public policy." Over 160 countries have taken measures to privatize their industries. The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other multilateral institutions lawyer – sometimes necessary – Privatisation policies should be adopted as a condition of aid and loans.
The political logic of "privatization and competition reform (PCR) is based on the fundamental proposition that the private sector management companies – utilities, in particular, is different and superior to their management by governments. Even in areas traditionally essential government services of PCR is increasingly prescribed. One way engaging the private management of the operation of businesses is to transfer the property – or part – to private investors although there are many other approaches to achieve the same objectives. The emergence of PCR as a comprehensive policy has been triggered two ideological and practical considerations.
The dissolution of the Soviet Union and the transformation from economies the former Soviet Union (FSU) and countries of Europe have relied on policies of privatization as a means of making a transition economy market and a greater integration into the global economy. The sale of shares in state-owned enterprises increased revenue the government has reduced budget deficits in a timely manner.
One area in which public companies can be differentiated private firms is the nature of their goals and objectives. In the typical analysis of agency costs in public enterprises, researchers rely on the assertion that managers in SOEs focus on the objectives of politicians rather than maximize the effectiveness companies. In SOEs, the objectives are vague, multiple, contradictory and unstable, and include financial goals and policies both. This view is well established in the literature. However, it was widely acknowledged that the goal in private companies is more clear and related to maximizing profit and value creation for shareholders. Besides business objectives, some SOEs may include macroeconomic objectives relevant issues such as employment, inflation, equity and so on. This is certainly true in the case of Egypt, where public enterprises are regarded as a commercial entity and the tool of government to achieve goals macro-economic.
In private companies, "the main objectives of managers are looking for long-term profits for their shareholders. SOEs are expected to be poor results because politicians impose targets on those who can help to win votes, but in conflict with efficiency and customer focus. After privatization, the Executives have the discretion to redefine the objectives of the organization to reflect the objectives of their stakeholders.
As firms move from public to private, It is expected that the organizational changes privatization mission and goals that put more emphasis on finding effective satisfaction customers, and reduce the social esteem.
From a view of corporate governance, earnings change of ownership could be explained in several ways. First, managers in the privatized firms to perform a successful transfer of public and private governance must implement numerous policies to achieve performance gains. Managers must develop strategies based on industry analysis and market and technological opportunities. After privatization, Managers are supposed to have the power to redefine the objectives of the organization to reflect the objectives of their stakeholders.
On the other hand, in favor of privatization can be obtained by the delegation of management functions to professional managers who are trained and knowledge needed at all levels of society. The separation of ownership and management could however encourage the direction to be largely unaccountable to shareholders and to pursue his own interests at the expense of shareholders (agency costs). privatized enterprises could develop mechanisms for internal and external control that reduce the losses associated with the separation of ownership from management. internal control mechanisms in which incentives and monitoring mechanisms are established to encourage professional managers to act in the best interest shareholders. When the internal control mechanisms worked well, the Board of Directors Senior Management Changes necessary in the best interest society. When internal controls are deficient, however, the mechanisms of external control (through stock prices, acquisitions, and control-based relationship) can be used to realign the interests of managers with those of investors.
As provided in agency theory, control mechanisms in private companies can expect to be more effective than those in public enterprises, since the Internal Oversight Services and the boards who control private enterprises generally better informed than their counterparts in SOEs. The objective advice and services of internal control are also more aligned those of the owners of the business "are the objectives of external agencies in general. managers of public companies generally have limited discretion to initiate and implement strategic changes and are limited by bureaucratic controls that limit their scope of activities and authority.
Another expected change in behavior organizational practices is a change in the criteria of the rooms' appointment. The overhaul of senior management in the privatized enterprises planned to achieve a successful transformation of mindset of the public to the private sector of culture. The private sector managers with experience equipped with the skills necessary for business development and risk, marketing and finance – are needed to capitalize on the market and technological possibilities. The appointment of senior executives in newly privatized enterprises would be based on experience gained in the trade rather than those who have influence and political connections.
In the company of the private sector are often mechanisms governance so that management behavior is monitored and controlled by market mechanisms such as stock prices, investors potentials and Media. This may explain why the share issue privatization may lead to a significant impact on the effectiveness businesses. However, the researchers emphasized that the development countries – including Egypt – market-supporting institutions lack. In this case, managers can rely heavily on layoffs and increased sales for companies to profitability. Although widely dispersed and individually small shareholders intend to replace the incumbent management, they lack the ability to attract appropriately qualified management candidates, and they generally fail to provide management with the support it needs to implement drastic reorganization of operations and culture
The stereotype of the structure of public enterprises is that public enterprises are bureaucratic, inflexible, rigid and unable to adapt to the external environment. Politically controlled entities identified political structures – they are likely to be non-optimal after privatization. Consequently, it is expected that firms move from public to private, there will be a change in organizational structure. In addition, drawing upon the field of research management and writers organization privatization is associated with a movement of a functional form of the organization to control inputs and outputs for the entire organization, and usually requiring activities in the account of cost centers. privatization is associated with the transition to a management pyramid and an "m-shaped" rather "u-shaped" structure flattening.
In addition, release managers' control politicians, privatization can free managers to exercise their latent talent management. middle management level, for example, with the main role of the state property was a single administrative control, may find their job content has changed they become responsible for the implementation of changes and coordination and motivation of the teams they supervise.
privatized firms also change their organizational structures to ensure faster decision making by eliminating layers Management and the reduction of bureaucratic rules, and integrate individuals or organizational units. Flatter organizational structures, therefore, are more common in privatized firms and they tend to facilitate communication and cooperation between individual units and. Improved communication can strengthen employee commitment to the organization, encouraging employees to be more productive and innovative (perceived organizational support).
From Egypt The privatization program has actually been underway since May 1996. Since that time, the government proceeded to sell a large portion of the portfolio of privatization provided for under Act 203, and has used both the Exchange and strategic sales methods as the main mechanisms for making transactions. Although there is no doubt that privatization of a large portfolio of state enterprises is a major achievement, it is currently very limited information available on development post-privatization of these enterprises.
It is too early to discuss conflict between employment and human resources resulting from privatization, but these conflicts show the significance between labor issues and politics privatization. transformation process of SOEs generates widespread effects and far-reaching work, relationships and job security social particular. This problem is less well addressed by the existing literature. To minimize the adverse effects of the transition of public enterprises, some literature has argued that it is crucial to educate the public about the costs, benefits, timing and manner of this transition through the participation Workers wide.
PRE-privatization Behavior organizational
Besides being institutionalized in the organizational structure of the state apparatus, authoritarianism and centralization are reinforced by the organizational culture of public administration and reflect general culture of Egyptian society as a whole. authoritarian tendencies of behavior are high, sustained and maintained by family structures paternalistic, religious and educational institutions, and political system in general. In a large bureaucracy of a system promotion based on seniority rather than performance, low basic monthly salaries, and supplementary payments controlled by the senior management, employees are encouraged to be in the good graces of their superiors. Submission to a supervisor is required to secure additional payments and tolerance for absenteeism potential employees when they take other jobs part time. After reaching their position thanks to their long years of service or professional contacts, not merit, senior officials from prestige only from their bureaucratic rank that gave them the power to punish or reward junior staff. officials were anxious to maintain their authority and refuse to delegate any of their responsibilities to subordinate staff. In the absence of significant financial compensation to achieve a position direction after many years of service and an unfulfilling career, authority over the others probably served as a psychological-updating self reward the employee. This explains the high degree of resistance to any decentralization or delegation authority (the resistance to change).
All Egyptian public enterprises – including ABC – portrayed a model of power distance for which the company agreed that the unequal distribution of economic power and political results also an unequal distribution of power and authority in state institutions and organizations. However, the prevailing attitude has become a resistance overcome by this authority. In other words, they nominally accept authoritarianism, but in practice it outside battle. For example, employees of compliance with false orders, but reduced funding and try to maximize their benefits, either by increasing absenteeism and procrastination, or engaging in corruption and favoritism. In this context, the officials are accountable only to the upper layers of administration and citizens become a superfluous detail.
Having reviewed the organizational structure and culture of the state-owned enterprises (Enterprises) in Egypt, we can see that the potential agents of change and innovation are primarily top managers and officials were considered uncooperative subjects of reform and not change partners.
Previous studies lead us to conclude that top leaders in the public sector are those who are most empowered to initiate and lead change, but are less concerned to implement the entire system. Innovators have been to a large extent, be intimidated by economic and political costs or who are marginalized in the non-posts.
Recent trends in the sector reform public approaches the issue of leadership in the public service with enthusiasm, devoting considerable attention to developing leadership skills facilitating and promoting promising individuals for decision-making position. The idea is in need of reform as visionary leaders who are committed to change, willing to take risks and whose expertise guide reforms and personal integrity and dynamic.
But in the context of the authoritarian culture and custom of public enterprises, we must be careful not to confuse between the charismatic and visionary leaders. Charismatic leadership is based on the personal traits of individual leaders and their ability to lead others to achieve specific goals. charismatic leaders tend to be autocratic and somewhat institutionalize change, which is directly linked their person.
Directive leaders and visionaries on the other hand, are more oriented towards participation of their staff in goal setting, the internalization of reforms in the daily operational procedures of institutions and empowerment of their staff and inspire enthusiasm, commitment and leadership skills at different levels of the organization. Visionary and Directive leaders are more likely to lead to institutional development that is sustainable.
PRIVATIZATION
"Privatization has become the buzzword of the 1980s and organization is intended to reshape public administration in the next century. The term is both a diagnosis of popular discontent with the government (the government is inherently ineffective), and a prescription to treat his patients. In its turn, the growth of privatization poses huge new challenges for personnel management and training future civil servants. It is often assumed that employment fall, when privatization occurs because the new private owners will be ready maintain the surplus labor associated with public ownership of the company. The loss of employment will have an immediate negative impact state protection of labor. The opposition to privatization, on the grounds that it would weaken the position of work is expressed.
responses at the organizational level privatization has not been widely studied. The enormous changes in organizational behavior, strategy , structures, systems and incentives (changes in the "black box") must be systematically and carefully studied to better understand how the process of transformation of state enterprises. The key argument is that only the privatization process, which provide positive changes in fundamentally different organization of these companies and adapted to advance the competitive market environment to improve business performance.
Concerns about the difficulties for social workers and their families, especially where alternative employment opportunities and social safety nets are lacking, are often the main concerns during the process of privatization. While many displaced workers suffer a temporary loss and can recover if they move quickly to expanding sectors. Other incur losses in the long term or transfer to lower paying jobs.
The following points provide some basis for analysis the effect of privatization on labor
(A) Where a company has more work given level of production, privatization to increase the effectiveness of the company is likely to lead to some reduction in the workforce;
(B) Privatization could encourage new owners to introduce capital-intensive technologies. This can lead to lower wages and a need for fewer employees;
(C) The newly privatized companies may limit the production level to maximize profits.
This can have a negative effect on employment and labor cheap is an incentive for foreign investors to participate in the privatization program. Investors benefit when companies pay their workers low wages and reduce the number of employees. The privatization of public enterprises often involves changes in the recruitment, dismissal and working conditions of their employees. The impact may be positive or negative, depending on the situation of each case and the subjective viewpoint of each worker. In the short term, employees are having to adapt to changes in the terms and conditions service, including the need for retraining and greater job mobility, less security of tenure and the loss of some benefits and advantages. Evidence gained suggests that privatization and economic liberalization tends to reduce employment and / or lead a reduction in salary.
ABC's post-privatization changes in organizational
- STRUCTURAL CHANGES
This report provides overview of how the organizational changes that accompanied the privatization process at ABC influenced organizational behavior in business privatized. The report found pronounced variations between ABC as a public enterprise privatization and the emphasis on efficiency, profitability (cost control) and focused on client objectives. In management incentives have been increased after the privatization of research efficiency, control costs and improve quality of products and services, where there was a shift from "engineering to "excellent" customer "mentality excellent departments and the dominance of technical experts, the company crossed significant in number and structure of employees, and radical transformation to customer-oriented management systems behaviors, practices teamwork and political changes shareholder value.
The company as a public enterprise has been generally characterized by inefficiency due to overstaffing, the dependence on subsidies, the lack competition, and poorly motivated leaders. Internally, the company was corrupt, irrational and excessive organized, with about five times the number of employees actually needed. promotions were to seniority rather than merit. Little Formal systems are in place. Therefore, the cost savings and efficiency behavior were the sources frequently observed improvement in performance after privatization.
The effects of privatization on the characteristics corporate governance at ABC were considered important in relation to perceived improvements in both the internal and external control mechanisms of the organization. Significant differences were found in the practices of corporate governance, particularly as regards the existence of audit committees that were independent of management. In addition, the ABC as a privatized company were more likely to disclose information society, for example, in transactions between related parties and reward systems. privatization also decreased the possibility of political interference in the process of strategic decision and the appointment of boards of directors. The councils have been responsible for strategic direction and business performance, with incentives based on indicators of business performance. All these changes led to greater management discretion in business transformation.
As the company offers public to private, organizational structure tends to become flatter, more organic and decentralized, and moved to a matrix form of the structure to facilitate the integration of the organization. ABC also reported better communication and coordination between individuals and units following the privatization as it moved towards the reduction bureaucratic rules. In particular, changes in organizational structure following privatization have not only seen as a continuous process, they also seen in several dimensions in nature. Through various stages of transition, the structures were destroyed dramatically leaving only four to five levels in operational areas.
Almost immediately after taking control of the company in February 1997, the Luxor Group has undertaken the task of transforming the company managing the operation and development. They named five new executives (including three non-Egyptians) in the first hundred and one days of its management of ABC. During the next 100 days remaining seven executives have been hired. Most appointments were made in the area of investor relations and the media, human resources management, marketing, export promotion and sales management. These appointments reflect a longer-haul senior management the Company. 45 other people were also appointed to the ABC sales force.
Although the majority of 3200-strong the society of pre-privatization labor remained with the company, now privatized managed to remove a large portion of management and executives who have been associated with ABC rentierist practices within the public sector, thus paving the way for a restructuring important to the company's internal culture.
- CHANGE corporate culture
Although the privatized company has accomplished much in the elimination of public personality Company (ie government securities sector management have mostly been replaced with the standard of private sector securities as director of marketing, director of sales from promotions relationships have been replaced by a system based on meritocracy, the scheme of work in the company characterized by long hours and many more civil servants' salaries for middle management), high levels of internal bureaucracy is still present in the company. administrative decisions, while adopting the style of a multinational, has yet to make a sequence of "house of approval, which cause significant delays in the conduct of business (although this is not a feature rare internal organization that we find in many other Egyptian public and private sector).
A number of conclusions on the basis of this culture can be drawn from this analysis of authority relations. Post-privatization structures aimed at limiting the power and provide a degree of responsibility does not work – even when the management changed. Absence cons-of powers or checks on the chief of management – even Belgian – enabled him to be even Leviathan. The power is still centralized and concentrated in person. rigid hierarchy and authority leads to arbitrary sycophantism, fear and reverence. With so discretion, subordinates were unable to engage with superiors to be relatively equal and are not willing to question or criticize.
- PERFORMANCE Assessment System
Performance evaluation serves several purposes. One goal is to help management make decisions on general human resources. Assessments contribute to important decisions such as promotions, transfers, and terminations. The evaluations also identify training needs and development. They identify employee skills and competencies that are currently inadequate but for which remedial programs are be developed. The evaluations also meet the objective to provide feedback to employees on how much the outlook organizational performance. In addition, performance evaluations are the basis for the allocation of rewards. Decisions about who gets salary increases to merit and other awards are often determined by performance appraisals. Each of these evaluation functions Performance Counts. However, their importance depends on the perspective of the organization is taken. Several are clearly relevant to human decisions resource management. But our interest is in organizational behavior. Therefore, we insist on the performance evaluation as a mechanism to provide feedback and as a determinant of reward allocation.
Within the public sector, ABC developed a reputation for a hierarchical organization internally, where people were promoted or rewarded on the basis of their seniority in hierarchy – not the merit of their performance. The company privatized promote meritocracy coming of age, ABC aims to replace internal organizational culture with a modern international company management technique by introducing a system of performance appraisal. This device is described a job description for each employee of ABC, and a series of biannual meetings between the performance appraisal employee and a supervisor appointed, the progress of all ABC staff would be monitored and employees accountable for their performance.
The performance was also affected by changes in the internal environment of the company, including the organizational structure, objectives, management, employment relations, communications and information system and the nature and location of business. However, "welfare employee and labor relations have been very limited and have received less priority in the company's privatization process.
- CHANGE Human Resource Management
One change Most Wanted ABC from a state of the environment in a company was privatized in relations between management and workers. As a public company, the workers were protected by political factors. As a privatized company, workers are more protected. Compensation was based on productivity rather than seniority or political connections. The skills of employees, work effort, and contributions to profits have been rewarded.
The salaries of senior and middle the company (especially in sales and marketing departments) are now compatible with most major private sector companies and multinational companies in the country. Wages have not increased dramatically for front-line workers, however, if the system of bonuses and benefits benefits was changed to the company since privatization reflect an employee's contribution to productivity, rather than the length of the mandate to the company. In addition, employees of ABC were offered from the first package options made by a company Egyptian introduces a number of schemes to profit sharing since privatization.
But the evidence that is available on the effects of privatization of employment does not seem to confirm a significant reduction in employment levels in the company following the privatization.
In addition, these changes have missed the kind of "human resources". Change of ownership has led to different incentive structures for management and led to changes in management behavior and performance, when the reward is now linked to performance and incentive schemes such as the shareholding and option plans.
It is noted that the job losses have generally been treated CBA a consensus, often without redundancies: the downsizing has resulted in staff turnover and the use incentives for individual resignation or retirement. This does not mean that there were no clashes on the job cuts, but that parties have generally been able to reach an agreement, even in situations the most controversial.
For all practical purposes, Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ESF), the national umbrella organization which covers all factory-level unions, is an extension of state. As corporatist entity, it has been administered like any other government agency. It was large, bureaucratic incompetence, selfish, and intellectually bankrupt. He collected little or no confidence in the workers it ostensibly was. As an institution, It is used to control and co-opt workers, disseminate propaganda, provide the appearance of the representation, and sometimes channel limited services Public sector employees, workers and non-workers.
That does not seem to have close links between the active and ABC public sector organizations national labor / unions. The union has no union of things usually. Collective bargaining and contract negotiations were unknown. Strikes and independent organization remain illegal and the union did not investigate complaints or mismanagement, defend the rights of workers, or workers to resolve their problems.
- Changes in attitudes and beliefs
Positive beliefs about the economic benefits and organizational attitudes explained Privatization above and beyond negative beliefs concerning its social and national costs. The interaction between these beliefs, however, indicated that the negative beliefs extremely positive beliefs can change. The attitudes of public sector employees were more strongly associated with negative beliefs and less associated with positive beliefs.
Despite the importance of attitudes in the privatization process, most privatization efforts have been powered up and down with few players. A better understanding of the role of attitudes in the development the success or failure of privatization to ABC requires an assessment of beliefs about the consequences that comply substrates attitudes towards privatization.
Given the link between attitudes and behavior, a better understanding underlying beliefs should have proved capable of informing the privatization programs in the CBA regarding the level of stakeholder support and programs targeted to the beliefs most closely linked to the impact.
Union leaders and public employees opposed to ABC firm privatization. However, after receiving a plan that excluded the layoffs, which was probably a very negative beliefs related to the privatization of their own, their pre-existing positive beliefs changed their attitudes towards Privatization. The strongest opposition to privatization ABC has often workers and unions representing public sector. The opposition is not surprising because the cost of privatization appears higher for public employees and long-term gains seems low since the privatization poses a direct threat to their employment, wages, and influence. Bearing in mind the fact that employees and workers in Al-Ahram Beverages was one of the best paid in the country.
Evidence suggests that employees of ABC are more likely to believe that privatization would increase service efficiency, improve customer service, upgrading of technology in the country, increasing the capacity of countries to be competitive on the world market and increase choice and quality products. However, they seem less likely to believe that privatization will help to pay existing debt, reduce corruption, increase efficiency of production, lower prices in encouraging competition, increase government revenue from the sale of assets, and reduce the burden on public budgets and the size of government entities.
On the other hand, they seemed concerned about the privatization of monopolies private fostering, the increase in the price of subsidized goods and services, declining social benefits and increasing popular discontent and the unemployed. However, they seemed less concerned about the privatization of depriving the country of technological knowledge, increasing unemployment, increasing social injustice, growing pollution, the sale of assets of the country at prices lower and depriving governments of revenue.
- Changes in the values
A dramatic change in the majority of ABC's pre-to post-privatized company related to changes in firm values and objectives. Privatization has led to a more stable and productive employment that benefited both workers (higher wages and benefits) and society in general (increased tax revenues of the state, increasing exports).
Change values also generally resulted in increased employee morale and employee involvement. Features including improved wages and benefits (such as transportation to and from work, uniforms and meals) and more attention the quality and productivity. All reported great anxiety in the transition and the need for careful planning. Managers reported a change of "seniority and politics" to "meritocracy" as a basis for rewards, and increased pride in the product and themselves as employees.
- ASSEMBLY A team of professionals
"Internally, [your emphasis should be placed on the management] management, management, coupled with interdepartmental communications as much as possible. Keep the door open, and let your employees know you're there. People are your strengths. Do not forget your employees, and do not forget your consumption. "- Ahmed Zayat reported.
ABC made a successful effort to attract a coterie of highly educated, motivated and experienced managers and employees (following reforms Zayat), as a step fundamental shift from corruption, mismanagement company an efficient enterprise.
To attract managers most talented employees, and simultaneously create long-term shareholder value, in the context of privatization 1997 Arrangement Zayat brought two option programs: the employee Share Option Plan (the "Employee Plan") and Managing Director Option Plan (the "Master Plan"), under which 622,500 shares have been issued. ABC was the first company in the MENA region to offer options to its employees all levels.
"The superstars are attracted to our society, not only because the challenge and the real growth … we [are] the height, but also because of what I call the "Magic of Options", for which we are a Pioneer Egypt. As the single largest shareholder of ABC and as executive chairman, I'm proud that we have hundreds of managers and employees of ABC other shareholders. I am proud to bring [our] financial interests so that we enjoy together. – Zayat
ABC plans to offer stock options to employees and managers the opportunity to own shares of the company. Under the system of employees, total maximum number of shares for which options may be granted was 250,000 at EGP 105. maximum share offered under the Plan were 372,500 EGP 20, and have been exercised only if certain conditions were met. Prices of options were determined by the Board. The plan that has succeeded in attracting and retaining highly skilled and talented managers and employees, whose interests are aligned with management and other stakeholders. Family members and Sheriff Ahmed Zayat, both managing directors, have both obtained the Blueprint.
- CHANGES IN THE DECISION-MAKING
As mentioned previously, the privatization changed both the process of decision making and the extent of government influence on decision making in policy decisions. Therefore, the change of ownership has been provided to lessen the scope for political intervention in business operations and simplify objectives. In Egypt, the government has not only determined the lifetime of management, but also controlled key resources, marketing channels, and sources of raw material for operations of public enterprises.
Political influence in any form forced SOEs management actions to implement policy changes. The finding suggests that firms move from public to private, the forms of political influence have been systematically reduced. However, because of the privatization program in the CBA, the market stock has played a role in which the company had to disclose all important matters concerning the operation of the company. In 2002, The shares of the Company were listed on the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange (CASE). Therefore, the Stock Exchange regulations limited to a certain extent all other influences on decision-making process. It was reported that, consequently, boards' appointments ABC post-privatization was based on criteria of professionalism as corporate reputation, experience, business networks and skills. These criteria have been considered a secondary factor, if not nonexistent, before privatization. It has been widely accepted that directors and appointment of managers at ABC as a state-owned enterprises are not based on merit, but rather on the basis of political relations and the "relations intimate relationships between government figures and management. The results confirm the idea that privatization reduced the extent of influence political and government interference in the process of decision and appointment of councils.
Although literature suggests that privatized firms become more decentralized, it was not verified in reality. managers ABC reported a greater centralization of decision-making until the takeover by Heineken. This may reflect the need a strategic and timely decisions of the board of directors and top leadership. It can also be explained in part by the nature of the work culture in the country and the long period of time they spent under a centralized system. However, greater discretion by lower level managers has also been reported by some managers, suggesting that decentralization may be more than implementation of a strategy decision making.
- THEORY (X) which prevails ABC still PLANTS
An ideology that justifies inequality and authoritarian social relations existed even post-privatization in the plant ABC. Managers and many workers believed that supervisors should be difficult and distant and, in some cases, abusive and condescending to be respected. If top is now too close to their subordinates, the reflection, subordinates lose respect for them and would not be willing to follow their orders. Control is lost and the chain of command to deteriorate, and nothing would be done. Domination and inequality were thought to be functionally necessary for the respect, authority, and finally production.
Ramzi, a young director who first worked in the company as a shift supervisor in the structure of state enterprises reported the potential "dangers" becoming too friendly with his subordinates. Firstly, unlike most supervisors, Ramzi did not insist that he address his workers officially in the workshop. As a warning of what this might entail, however, he told an interaction he had with one of his workers outside Plant: I was walking down the street with my wife, and a worker saw me and she said: "Hello, is Ramzi. How are you? "My wife asked I was present. Of course, I could not tell her she was a worker. I said: "It is a colleague." But the next day I said [the worker], "It is allowed to call me Ramzi here [at work], but respect to the outside is important. "Ramzi echoed the importance of maintaining a distance between himself and his subordinates. He and his wife had internalized rigid system of hierarchy and inequality (and the importance of the position, prestige, and so on) to a point where it was threatened by a worker in addressing him informally in public, before his wife. Ramzi did not even need to ask his wife what she thought. He knew she would find awkward, if not unacceptable, as his subordinate to tell her about his first name.
Workers and other employees regularly suffer from the arbitrary and capricious and lack of higher functioning institutional mechanisms for redress their grievances. rigid authoritarian hierarchy and relationships are still the norm, and they fell on not only highlight means such as powers of the Chief Executive or physical abuse of team supervisor of workers but also in smaller and more subtle practices, the ways and codes of conduct. Relations of superiority and subordination had become so internalized that they seem natural and have been taken for granted.
Finally, another important issue for this report concerns the importance of leadership and participation restructuring of the CBA from a state of the environment to a privatized company, and especially to meet the costs of Workers laid off. It seemed obvious that the leadership capacity of executive director of the company after the privatization has been a factor key-of-a commitment to develop the company and its employees, the political skill in dealing with the transition from state the environment to a privatized company. There is management training programs in virtually all aspects, targeting managers of the company direction and management challenges during the privatization process.
- Organizational support (POS)
Post-privatization (POS) has shown to be at a high level of ABC. Employees and factory workers have seen the company after privatization, as support when the awards were fair and the employees had a voice in the decisions (especially after Heineken took over) and when their supervisors became more favorable as they are now considered to have higher levels of organizational citizenship behavior and performance at work.
Fortunately, a positive effect of privatization on labor also exists. Often, workers gained in privatization and new investment and expansion dynamics led to the creation of new jobs in both the enterprise and sectoral level, productivity and leads to better conditions of service. In addition, workers who remained with the company after its privatization have often benefited to obtain better paying jobs, the share of the business and improve training and career development opportunities. In ABC new owners increased wages and introduced profit-sharing plan. So, in exchange for higher wages, rigid labor contracts often have been revised. Previously accepted the terms and contracts are no longer accepted by new owners of the company. Some benefits, such as pension rights, severance pay, early retirement have been preserved by the labor law and regulations privatization, others such as seniority and memos, transportation, child care and health insurance plans are yet in danger.
- CREATIVITY
creativity organizational ABC post-privatization of culture means deliberately changing the current methods to new levels of quantity, quality, costs and customer satisfaction possible. The new structure Privatising been identified specific results to increase corporate creativity, including new products and methods, increased efficiency, greater motivation, job satisfaction, teamwork, focus on customer satisfaction, and more strategic thinking at all levels.
After careful consideration of firm organization creativity model, it was inferred that crops functional or cultural aspects of whether the individual is considered as a manager or as a non-manager within the company may have influenced his attitude towards creativity and innovation. At ABC, we found that compared to non-executives, managers of the post-privatized displayed a more positive attitude towards creativity and divergent thinking. This indicates that the highest positions of organization have been more creative than those oriented to lower positions, because they can not afford not seem adventurous or not be seen as people who come with new, unusual, Off-the-wall ideas. Such behavior is associated with gravity or dedication to the task and thus maintaining prophecy self-fulfilling that they can adapt to changing Privatization.
Gender is one variables most important in creativity. Unfortunately, ABC has reported no evidence on gender differences in attitudes toward organizational creativity. This is one of the shortcomings that we have been unable to fill.
functional cultures were found to influence the behavior of Al-Ahram Beverages management (CBA) has become more privatized SOE firms like. It was found that managers from different functional areas saw the same management problems significantly different ways. Actually, they defined the problem largely in terms of activities and objectives of their own areas. functional interpretation would may have resulted from "group think" adopted by the new administration, which encouraged people who work closely collaborative thinking the same way on issues. It was found that marketing and operations managers believe in violation of rules organization and hierarchy of the organization to achieve company goals, and financial managers have been uncomfortable with ambiguity and has expressed strong tendencies to follow rules.
People in the management function has been found to behave because they had creative positions within the organization hierarchy that allows them to reward innovators and punish the protectors of the status quo. techniques have been found to adopt creative roles because innovation is an important component of many technical jobs (non-alcoholic malt beverages; Fayrouz Birel & Amstel Zero). Accountants have rarely been described as heroic innovators, as in most businesses. This may in part be attributed to the presumption that the accounting profession is not considered a creative (Self-fulfilling prophecy).
The privatization of the company conducted after hiring young managers who were likely to continue building strategies for more creches from the former state company culture were known dislike changing the status quo and show greater adherence to norms of the organization. younger managers have more liberal attitudes towards creativity and organizational innovation that former managers.
With respect to the provision of an environment positive, recognizing the characteristics that are typically rooted in Egyptian culture on power distance and hierarchy implicit post-privatization executives were deeply committed to improving the environment for creativity. Thus, ABC they recognized the true implications of consultation and implementation style more consultative management. The new leadership knew that if employees dislike Egyptian risk are not provided active encouragement and do not see that their contribution is valued and act accordingly, they will be reluctant to provide it.
The post-privatization strategy to ABC adhering to the management of diversity has been created 2002 under the new CEO (Mark Busain) – a young Belgian business sense – consider the fact that the Egyptians are a people highly collectivist and it is the ease in social interaction and group formation. This collectivism can cause high group loyalty and cohesion and is a source potential beneficial "social capital" – resources from the network of relationships in a working group or organization. Egyptians value the person and the relationship over the task. The challenge for post-privatization team of Egyptian labor, was to maintain focus on the powerful influence on group performance. Then it turned out to be positive, it could have simultaneously limited the group to open other ways of doing things. The results of this strategy means that teams of employees should be allowed to decide how to achieve their goal; allow such freedom and autonomy poses intrinsic motivation.
- SHIFT INTO leadership styles – from Alpha to BETA
Ahmed el-Zayat (charismatic leadership) – Alpha Team
href = "http://www.businesstodayegypt.com/popimage.aspx?Image">
It was late in the afternoon, April 5, 1997, when Ahmed El Zayat, recently appointed Director General of Fair privatized Al Ahram Beverages Company (ABC), sitting in his office at the brewery and have begun to examine ABC statements. Scrutinising the data, he saw the potential and perils. ABC had no competitors, and regularly gave the profits. But the company also was troubled by a sector mentality public. Drawing on his cigar, Zayat knew that there was no turning back. The transaction was closed and he needed to understand what to do next. Her immediate concern is how to enable ABC to improve its performance and position themselves at local and international advantage sustainable competitive. With a card capable of directors and senior managers, Zayat was convinced of his ability to help the company grow and develop.
However, it would have to reflect long and hard about what strategies to adopt.
From the time the company was privatized in 1997, its lavish (and brilliant) management team headed by President Ahmed El-Zayat took a bold step after another, providing a place of ABC in the news business. The media frenzy that surrounded ABC throughout the recovery ended with a historic 2002 M & A deal when brewing giant Heineken International snapped up 98% percent of the ABC to an enormous 1.33 billion LE.
After the acquisition, things have been "Hush, hush" on ABC, prompting speculation in the business on which the company was going and that was to take him there. Rumors abound that El-Zayat, who remained in office after the case Heineken, played a lesser role.
Now, after all these years of autocratic leadership, Finally, El-Zayat was to delegate the daily operations, so he focused on strategy. Who Was delegate after the acquisition took place? It was a new generation of junior ABC executives. El-Zayat has dubbed the "Alpha Team", who played a key role in making ABC a new direction.
Alpha Team
ABC Director of Marketing, Director strategic planning and three technical experts in the operation of hail brewing of Heineken in the Netherlands, but the nucleus of society remains 100% Egyptian.
"The plane is now my house, but ABC has always been and still is my baby. He began to do the same goal, if not more, than in the past. During my first three-four years at ABC, I was a very practical manager. I pays attention to detail. I do not want to micromanage people, but when the company required a lot of attention. Once all the basic elements were in place and we had consolidated our leadership position, I began the second phase of my mission, which demanded that I turn my attention outside, "says El-Zayat.
It is during this second phase that El-Zayat orchestrated operation Heineken. He says he has just completed a third phase of its master plan for the company, which once again the need to spend more time in Egypt and the office.
"Being more mature and experienced manager much now that I used to be, I could mentor to many people. The new players are now much younger than their predecessors. I call them the hope of Egypt "Says El-Zayat's Alpha team.
The Alpha team has played a key role in both post-restructuring business acquisition and launching new product lines ABC.
El-Zayat decided to launch the Alpha team in September 2003. The idea was to create a group of six ambitious young people, half of them within the company and other new recruits to, any operation to monitor ABC with an eye for birds. They report directly to El-Zayat and ensure that its guidelines are properly executed in accordance with the company overview.
At first, nobody really understood what happening. He just looked like young guys bumps around famous directors and sting their noses into everything. But it was a great learning experience for the young team. They were in all meetings and brainstorming sessions. He really did feel part of the process of decision making. Before the Alpha Team, the various departments were like separate islands. Part of their job is to raise the level of communications. They have created an unprecedented degree of transparency in the company.
Another new concept was launched a breakup of the company into separate business units, one for non-alcoholic malt beverages [Fayrouz and Birel], one for beer [Stella, Heineken and Sakkara], one for wines and spirits for the fourth. They needed to create "ownership" for the different segments of the business people to become responsible for everything within that segment, working closely with functional departments: sales, marketing and production, is something which never occurred before, under the guidance of old style.
ABC tends to undergo some degree of restructuring every year and remains not afraid to move personnel from one division to another.
Under the restructuring, the President issued a report 28 pages describing the new corporate vision of. Among its stated objectives are a complete recycling of all staff, greater automation of everything from production to storage and sale, and put more emphasis on consumer research.
Then El-Zayat launched a second generation of the Alpha team to allow a fresh look with a new outlook to control operations at ABC. Top Ten Reasons I Hate Wine – Six food problems
Yes, it's true I really love Wine and Food Italy, France, Germany and many other countries. And who among us can deny a good deal? I really hate the wine in particular Many aspects of the wine scene. Let me explain my top ten reasons for this love-hate relationship. Previous articles discussed the unacceptable costs, lack of knowledge disturbing, no wine cellar, I can not get the … open bottle, and insomnia. This article describes the problems food that seem an inevitable part of my wine experience. Good wine to go with good food and great wine to go with great food. But who can eat all that good food or great? I am very lucky, at least for the moment, I can eat whatever I want, in moderation, without dieting. I 'd better not push my luck or I'll join the many dieters. But even non-dieters can have big problems with good food, problems of cost and time. You can bet your bottom dollar that the food is tasty is expensive, takes too long to prepare, or both. In addition, tasty food is probably not so good for you. If the number of calories will not harm you, fats and carbohydrates will be tasty. I do not what others may say, in my thinking 8% yogurt tastes much better than yogurt 0%. Neither one goes with wine, but I think you get the idea. And of course, for many of us from overeating can cause sleep disorders. I know that if I eat too late at night insomnia comes in. And as I'm getting older and older, too late at night becomes increasingly early. I said sleep difficulties, in addition to insomnia a good meal with wine makes me sleep. As you can guess nap after imbibing wine is an excellent way to generate insomnia. And what about pairing wine and food? It does not have a great wine and good food – wine and food should be good together. The potential for huge increases error. It is an easy "solution" this problem. Champagne pairs well with almost all foods. Just open your wallet (see Section 1), popped the cork (see Section 4), and enjoy. So if you have unlimited funds and are not disputed opener, the food problem is resolved. Otherwise … Here are other reasons that I hate wine, little time to explore: wine snobs, these odors and tastes, these colors, home brew, one more problem and yes, the solution. About the Author

Are you interested in house wine Make
Whether you're a wine lover, real or just someone looking for a passion part-time, home wine making can be fun and enjoyable, and of course there are very few other activities with such a gain tasty! It may seem a little intimidating to novices, but in reality, this wine from the house can be very easy with just a little guidance.
Most Home Wine is made from a grape juice concentrate, so do not worry about your culture and harvesting the grapes own – or having to type on foot once you do! You can also use different fruit juices as well, for another type of flavor.
The simplicity of house wine Do
Typically you just add your fruit juice, Campden tablets (sulfur dioxide output which, when dissolved), and water what is called a primary fermenter. It is usually a large vessel with a Top airlock. After the mixture has sat for 24 hours, add yeast and let ferment for a week. You can then add water and allow it to continue to ferment.
Obviously These are only the most basic steps involved in making wine. There are actual revenues and step by step, you must follow; and additional ingredients. For example, tannin is used to add flavor, color clarity, and help in the process of aging.
Monitoring of fermentation
A special piece of equipment called the hydrometer is used to monitor the alcohol content and fermentation wine. If you want to try to get a higher alcohol content, you can follow through the process of fermentation. However, if you're new to the making homemade wine, be careful. You can lose a whole lot of wine, trying to force alcohol content, so you can follow your recipes exactly at least while you are a beginner.
Personalizing your house wine Make
One of the nice things about making your own wine is that you can adjust the ingredients to your taste. Some add additional sugar to make sweeter wines, while others prefer a stronger taste sec. With the manufacture of homemade wine, you can also try different fruits other than grapes. Much like wine, apple wine, raspberry, elderberry wine, plum wine, currant wine, and many other varieties. You can also add different fruits to any type of wine for a new flavor and single or mixed types of grapes or grape juice that you use for a new and exciting flavor. You can also test your skills in the manufacture of wine, as maintaining the water a few degrees higher while trying for a higher alcohol content. The more you experiment with your recipes and wine combinations of fruit, the better your wine will taste better and you'll be doing it.
