Labels Diet easy labeling system makes any diet success

The latest trend in supermarkets across the country and with manufacturers of food is nutrition labeling. With health problems more and more consumers want to know bad nutrition what's in the food they find in the grocery store. With type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity and childhood illnesses on the rise of the informed consumer will make healthier food choices.

Nutrition Labels: The latest trend in the grocery stores and food manufacturers

The FDA has not yet responded to the guidelines of the label nutrition, despite the request, but a number of national grocery and food manufacturers have taken steps to help consumers decode the confusing, hard to read nutrition labels. PepsiCo has introduced SmartSpot Seals in 2004 and Kraft came out with sensible solutions in 2005, the labels are used in Nuval stores Hy-Vee, which guides the Stars program at the Hannaford Brothers grocery chains (Food Lion) and other programs are supposed to help make sense of food labels.

The Keystone Group (nonprofit groups) launched the Smart Choice, which gives a green check mark for foods that meet certain criteria. Participation in this program is not mandatory but several industry leaders announced their participation, Coca Cola, PepsiCo, Kraft, Kellogg's, General Mills, ConAgra Foods, Unilever and Wal-Mart.

Problems with nutrition labeling programs adds to the confusion

Although labeling Nutrition is a step in the right direction there are problems with these programs. First of all, consistency. A chain of grocery stores can use red tags to identify the heart healthy foods while a second channel uses yellow for heart health. The result is almost two identical products with different colored labels, adding to the confusion. Once the food is the residence of the consumer is required to re-read the labels every time they open the pantry.

Another problem with the program of the Keystone Group is the holding is not required once again let the consumer do more work with more confusion. companies whose products you can choose not to participate in the Smart Choice program leaving you to read the labels before buying, and again at home before eating.

What is considered healthy by the large non-compliant consumer

A third problem is that what people at PepsiCo (and other major companies) and the Keystone Group believes that health does not necessarily mean something its consumers "consider healthy. With companies Current nutrition labeling significant or non-profit group to decide what to label as "healthy" and the consumer must go through their guidance. For example, a breakfast cereal Receives Smart Choice label, but this product contains 12 grams of sugar (2 teaspoons) per serving. This amount of sugar is one of many consumers do not consider health.

Large companies that use the labeling to promote the "healthy" products have a bottom line profit. They label based on their own standards which are often indulgent and inconsistent with the standards consumers.

One Size Fits All: nutrition labels do not take into account specific needs Diet

A final problem with these nutritional labels is no difference for foods that are heart healthy compared to foods that are healthy for diabetics to eat. It's one size label both intelligent choice of labels, grocery shopping and food manufacturers labels. This adds to consumer confusion about what to eat for their own personal health.

A person in a household can need a special regime for heart health, this is not the same type of food a decade of growing old would need. What is healthy for a person is not healthy for everyone.

Food manufacturers and grocery stores argue that even if the program is fully in place only 10% of products on shelves have nutrition labels. This leaves a lot of labels Decode!

Another company recently introduced a program of nutritional labeling can be used on any line by consumers, regardless of where they shop or what the food manufacturers of their choice, this labeling system may prove to be the best choice for consumers on nutrition labels altogether.

Easy Labels scheme allows the consumer and puts the control in their hands, not in the hands of big business. You can choose products from different stores, manufacturers of different foods, and use the same color coded labels each. Since consumers have finally begun to take note of how diet affects health and the demand began to healthier foods that new wave of nutritional labeling is sure to grow. It is the tendency of hope for the consumer who wants to eat healthily and take decisions at the grocery store and at home.
